EACP INAUGURAL CONFERENCE AT VILNIUS UNIVERSITY – June 9-11, 2016

The Centre of Oriental Studies at Vilnius University and European Association for Chinese Philosophy (EACP) invites scholars with interest in problems concerning Chinese philosophy and philosophy in China to submit proposals for individual papers or panels, or to register as non-presenters at the Inaugural Biennial Conference of EACP “Thinking Across the Borders: Philosophy and China”, which will be held June 9-11, 2016 at Vilnius University, Lithuania.

The Centre of Oriental Studies was formed in 1993 to provide a focus for the creation and dissemination of knowledge about Asia and the Middle East within Vilnius University and at the national level. With over thirty scholars and teachers, the Centre now is the largest and most distinguished establishment of Oriental studies and research in Lithuania and one of the leading institutions of Asian studies in the Baltic countries. The Centre of Oriental Studies is also a founding member of the Baltic Alliance for Asian Studies (BAAS) – the regional network for Asian studies and research since 2004.

The EACP has been officially founded in February 2014 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The Association aims to encourage and advance all academic and scholarly activities related to Chinese philosophy in all countries of Europe. Among the most important goals of the Association is to open a dialogue between scholars of Asian, especially Chinese intellectual history and to create and maintain a platform for a fruitful cooperation and exchange of ideas. One of the main activities of the Association is the organization of biennial conferences. The Inaugural conference will be held at Vilnius University , one of the oldest and most famous establishments of higher education in Eastern and Central Europe, founded in 1579.
